Dubfire is actually  Ali Shirazinia, one half of the DJ Duo Deep Dish.  Sharam, the other half and Dubfire have gone their separate ways for the time being.  Sharam was the first to release his Global Underground dual disc mix, “Dubai”, but Dubfire has followed up with a much more techy and underground offering in his “Taipei” release.

Disc one really is 15 tracks of house music with a bit of an underground edge.  This disc is pretty much what I expected.  A bit more dark and less soulful than what his Deep Dish counterpart offered on his Disc one, but still very much a “Deep Dish Vibe”.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good disc, but nothing groundbreaking or earth shattering.  Disc two is where Dubfire finds his own individual groove.  When I initially listened to the second disc, I thought it was just one of many recent progressive and techy offerings, but Disc two is really quite a treat, with remixes of Depeche Mode, Nitzer Ebb and Noir’s “My MTV”.

Overall, a very good first time mix disc outing for Dubfire on the GU label.
